Location: Cedar Lake Action Learning Campus, Big Bear Lake, CA
Program Summary: This was a full day program for a Greek Orthodox Church youth group. They wanted to focus on working together to complete projects and to value communication and personal differences.
Results: By program completion, the group had developed consensus-building skills and incorporated all members of the group into its collective consciousness. All members felt that they had made new and lasting relationships with other group members.

Client: Families for Children

Location: Cedar Lake Action Learning Campus, Big Bear Lake, CA
Program Summary: We provided a day of program as part of Families for Children’s “Foster Youth Empowerment Workshop." This is the second program that we have done with them. Participants are all currently in foster care. The workshop they participated in was designed to identify and remove barriers that lead to post foster care failure. Families for Children wanted to increase the success of adolescent foster children in moving from foster care to independence. Topics covered during their stay included conflict resolution, personal development, multi-cultural tolerance, and teambuilding.
Results: The program was a resounding success. The kids worked on perseverance and identifying and valuing differences in those of different races. Many came away feeling that their learning would make a difference in their future behavior once they left the foster program.

Client: First Congregational Church of Los Angeles
Location: Cedar Lake Action Learning Campus, Big Bear Lake, CA
Program Summary: There were approximately 75 campers, mostly ages 9-14, who are considered to be “youth at risk.” Most are participants in L.A. prevention programs. Emphasis was on learning/practicing basic life skills: basic communication, trust, being cooperative, and overcoming and pushing through fears.
Results: The program went very well. The kids commented frequently on how much they enjoy the mountain environment. In the closing circle, many mentioned the communication and cooperation they experienced in the initiatives and overcoming their fears on the high elements
